Some old steps were discovered and uncovered leading down to the river, likely from the days when it was the source of water for the nearby household.
The present owner of Ty Newydd has discovered some old pipes in the ground leading to the house which appear to date from the nineteen thirties, when the house received its first supply of running water right into the cottage. This supply continued until 1968.
A local farmer recalls the days when there was a well in that location.
Digging has revealed steps carved into the rock; it is thought that they came all the way up the slope from the river to the house. There is a lot more digging to be done to confirm that theory.
